Review: Hourglass Illume Sheer Color Trio
I love this.
The Hourglass Illume Sheer Color Trio is a 3-in-1 cream bronzer, blush, and highlighter. So although the price makes you sort of want to heave while hovering over the purchase button on the Sephora website ($62); it is in fact a lot of product, travel friendly, multi-use, and will definitely last years (or until it expires and I inevitably keep using it).
The bronzer blends like a dream, and is moisturizing without being greasy. Blended on the perimeters on the face it'll make you look tanned in the most natural way possible.
The blush is a flattering peachy pink and is a little bit drier than the bronzer. Warmed between your fingers it blends just as well.
The highlighter might be my favorite of the 3. It's a pale golden tone with no chunks of glitter, and is the most subtle glossy gorgeous thing I've ever put on my face. Use your fingers and pat it down the bridge of the nose, tops of the cheekbones, on the eyelids, and inner corner of the eyes. I use it every day.
Here's the key reason I love this product. It's easy makeup and it manages to look good no matter what. It elevates anything else you have on your face and never makes the situation worse. It's instant glowing-bronze-goddess and you don't have to mess around with 3 brushes. The only brush I do use with this is the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.
Is this an overly dramatic way to describe a bronzer/blush/highlight trio? Yes. Moving on.
Here's who won't like this product:
1. If you're very fair or very deep these colors might not work for you, and unfortunately there's only one shade.
2. If you love powder products and full glam, you probably won't love this.
3. If you have very oily skin, you may not like this.
4. If the thought of spending this amount of money on makeup is ridiculous to you (and I don't blame you). This is, however, one of those products where the price reflects the quality.
